Зачастую наши любимые фильмы являются провалами у себя на родине. И наоборот, слабые, примитивные с нашей точки зрения фильмы становятся хитами. Давайте в этой теме приводить информацию об оценке индийских фильмов индийскими критиками и зрителями. И оценку актеров и актрис у них на родине. И еще здесь можно давать данные боксоффиса. So, what's made the money in Bollywood? My Name Is Khan. Veer. Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. And last week's release, Love, Sex aur Dhokha. Of these, the first stopped short of being the runaway success it was meant to be. The second had a good opening, but couldn't sustain it. The third has made enough money for its producers to be happy, if not ecstatic. As for the last, it practically doubled its money over the weekend, and even with a dip in collections, will end up being on the upside. Impossible proposition Before we expand on the ones that made it, it's instructive to look at what didn't make the grade, and what lessons Bollywood can learn from their failure. Both Yashraj Films and UTV have had a bad start to the year. YRF's Pyaar Impossible looked like a no-hoper from the get-go. It had in the lead Uday Chopra, the younger son of Yash, who was looking to do a solo hero film again (the only one he'd done before this, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai worked somewhat because it was a faithful rip-off of the popular Hollywood rom-com My Best Friend's Wedding, and because it had some nice music). This time around, Yashraj was taking no chances. It got A-lister Priyanka Chopra to act opposite Chopra Jr, who plays a software nerd, a very Gen Now occupation, took the film off to new locations in Singapore, and made sure there were no greys in its ultra-colourful palette. Sorry, no go. What YRF forgot was that everything about Pyaar Impossible was completely fake. Chopra wore clothes no nerd would be caught dead in; Priyanka was designer perfect in her role as a public relations executive (she looks as if she was going to sashay on to the ramp any given time in the movie). And to make matters worse, there was not a single song that could be hummed. No song, no dance UTV's folly, Chance Pe Dance also betrayed an inability to judge the product. Post Kaminey, was there any way that Shahid Kapoor wouldn't pack them in? Kapoor, who started his career with Ken Ghosh in a film that had made money, was teaming with him again. He is a great dancer in real life, and the movie is about a guy who can really move it, a loser who comes out a winner. Again, the audience simply wasn't interested: in the film, Kapoor keeps flubbing auditions, but it was all very confusing — does he want to act, or does he want to dance? And for a film which should have had dances to blow you away, the choreography was pedestrian. Ram Gopal Varma's Rann didn't make the grade either. The nexus between media and corruption and power and the games people play is not a startlingly new subject, but there was enough meat in it to be told in a fresh way. But nothing about the film, not Amitabh Bachchan in his conscience-keeper-of-the-media avatar, not the wildly swinging camera angles (Ramu's penchant for tight close-ups was much in evidence), nor the way the film ultimately pans out, was enough to get Rann to run. Nor was Bachchan's star-power enough to give Teen Patti the fillip it needed: it was an over-produced, under-directed rip-off of a Hollywood thriller, and the audience saw it for what it was, and left it strictly alone. The Khan sagas My Name is Khan has the industry divided. It has made money, yes. But the bulk of it has been made overseas, where it is being billed as the Number One Bollywood film. Domestically, its collections dropped midway, and stayed there, essentially because the film's twin planks made it ‘serious': Shah Rukh Khan's Rizwan has Asperger's Syndrome, and his creditable playing of it, much more right than wrong, got submerged in the way it came across to viewers. It was also the first time SRK was playing such an overtly Muslim character: he wears a skullcap, performs namaaz, and is proud of who he is. Audiences adore SRK as Raj, but they found it difficult to accept him as the challenged, complex Rizwan. The other Khan who could have made it better too was Salman. His florid historical saga of a fierce warrior tribe which took on the British in pre-Independence India made just enough money to be called ‘not a flop', but it is nowhere in the league of his top grosser. Clearly, audiences do not like our heroes in leather and breastplates and tales set a hundred years ago where everything happens the way it used to happen in the Bollywood of the 1980s. Salman's loyal fan base showed up the opening weekend. And that was it. Clean fun and LSD Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge is a comedy which has Paresh Rawal playing the central part of a rustic guest who shows up in the lives of a nuclear family in Mumbai, and refuses to leave. Though Rawal has been seen in this guise before, there were some loud laughs to be had in this tale of pestilential guests and beleaguered hosts, played by Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma. There's a child in the film, and no lewdness, so it became a ‘clean family entertainer', a slot very hard to fill these days. The last on our list is the most exciting of the lot. Love Sex aur Dhokha is shot solely on digital format, has no stars, and is based on events that you can read in newspaper headlines. But director Dibakar Banerji makes it riveting in the way he gets his characters to interact; they speak in real-life cadences, and act in natural rhythms. As this is being written, industry watchers are noting that attendance is not as maxed out as it can be, but they are also keeping a sharp eye on this unusual product, made at under Rs 3 crore. Its first weekend collections are Rs 4.75 crore. Clear profit. Will LSD break the Bollywood mould? Hard to say just yet, but at least a beginning has been made.

The film will be profitable due to very low costs but theatrical perforcmance is below par. источник Сумма небольшая, но с учетом его бюджета (3 крор) она может вывести его в разряд хитов.

The only commercial hit of the first half, and that too barely, has been Athithi Tum Kab Jaoge starring Paresh Rawal and Ajay Devgan. And to a lesser extent, similarly small budget Ishqiyan frontlined by Vidya Balan. My Name is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol ended its run with distributor share of around 65 crores which would be notable except the film set in USA and billed to Fox at 100 crores with hopes for a crossover boxoffice breakthrough was bound to make loss despite all the media and industry hype, and it did. The TV rights have come out far less than expected and if box office patterns of past are any indication, TV ratings will be consistent with that also. Month of march happens to be typically a slow period as it is and this year was no exception outside of Athithi which held well considering it was going up during IPL telecasts. In fact many multiplexes have been screening IPL telecasts at the multiplexes, though this has not proven to be a particularly boisterous as far as box office collections of these telecasts go. The new release of April has been Sadiyan starring the debut of Luv Sinha. The film opened to a 10-15% turnout and did not find many takers. Neither did Tum Milo to Sahi or Pankh. Similarly, previous week's Love Sex aur Dhokha may have generated talk in media/industry circles but the film's collections aren't particularly huge. Coming up however sees the return of Vivek Oberoi in the release of action-thriller Prince. Though the star's Raktha Charitra may be more promising in terms of performance scope coming up later this year, Prince projects Oberoi in a pure solo action avatar not recently seen. If Prince and other upcoming films don't work in a big way, the industry is counting on Akshay Kumar once again to come up with some sort of popcorn hit with a major release in comedy Housefull. Hrithik Roshan will hope his kite can fly in May with the release of much delayed Kites. Ranbir Kapoor will join the Prakash Jha world of cinema with Rajneeti opposite Katrina Kaif no less on June 4th. Similarly Abhishek Bachchan will be hoping the Indian public will give him a break in Raavan which also stars Aishwarya Rai in June. In regional cinema box office charts, films that are leading this week are Mare Charithra in Telugu, and Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya in Tamil. Alice in Wonderland 3D is the top grossing Hollywood fare across India right now.
