Bagira1971: Salman Khan -Sonu Sood fight it out for Dabangg Movie First it was Ranbir Kapoor who had his torso/abs contoured and hand-painted during Saawariya by his ever-helpful co-star Salman Khan. Now it is Sonu Sood who got the same personal attention from Bollywood Superstar Salman. While shooting the tricky bare-bodied climactic combat scene in Wai for Dabangg, Salman personally supervised his screen-adversary Sonu Sood's torso tanning. Says Sonu, "Everyone knows when two guys do an action scene especially if they're bare-chested, they work out harder before the sequence to make sure each one's body is in the best shape." Salman has not only exercised rigorously for the climactic fight but he has also made sure Sonu Sood looks his best on camera. Says Sonu, "We've been shooting the hand-to-hand combat for a fortnight now, every day Salman has been making sure I'm as comfortable with the action director S Vijayan's instruction as he is." He continues, "We've been shooting in the heat on a set depicting a warehouse and our fight is a free-for-all. We first combat with fists and then any weapon, instrument, hard object we can lay our hands on. .It's the most dangerous fight Salman and I have done. Salman made sure I was comfortable and as protected and safe as possible." Best of all, the star gave Sonu Sood a lotion to highlight and contour his torso muscles. Says Sood, "It's a suntan lotion which makes the abs glisten on camera so that your muscles look more contoured. Salman told me to apply it and my body looks better on camera than ever before." Interestingly, Salman did the same to Ranbir Kapoor when the debutant shot the 'Jab Se Tere Naina' number in a towel for Saawariya. In fact Salman was not even required for the Saawariya song. He had nonetheless come on the sets and personally painted Ranbir's torso with the lotion before the song was shot. That explains Ranbir's contoured torso muscles in the towel song when in fact he has a wiry physique. Says Sonu Sood, "Unlike Ranbir who was in a towel the audience will see me and Salman like two rustic Biharis in Pyjama -kurtas. Salman plays a cop who thinks he's the unchallenged law of the region. I challenge him to a fight. We both slip off our kurtas and fight in full public view. As the fight gets more vicious the crowds are scared away .Only me and Salman are left, fighting. It's the most realistic climactic fight we've ever shot."

Earlier this year, the actor got the Filmfare Award for his Telugu film Arundhati, and he also bagged the Nandi Award from the Andhra Pradesh State Government as the most popular villain down South. “Touchwood, things have been so smooth,” he says. “My career has picked up enough steam for me to warrant some enviable roles,” he adds. And he is sure that after the way his character Cheddi Singh has been received in Dabangg, he will be able bring villainy back in a major way. He is also excited that he got to be a part of the most popular song Munni badnam hui. And while Sonu says that his act is not in the league of a Gabbar Singh or Mogambo, he is confident that baddies, who went missing in the Bollywood scripts, will be back with a vengeance after his act. And though Sonu’s character — Cheddi Singh — died in the movie, Sonu will be seen in the sequel as Cheddi’s twin brother. Sonu’s body has come in for a lot of appreciation post Dabangg. Salman, who is the poster boy of fitness trends in India, was himself heard commenting about how Sonu’s dedication to fitness had him somewhat unnerved!

Jha, February 4, 2011 – 16:59 IST Sonu Sood Sonu Sood’s grimacing villainy in Dabangg has got him the kind of recognition no amount of goody goody roles ever did. Just when Sood was all set to unleash an avalanche of evil on screen by signing on plum villain’s roles in 5 of the biggest films of 2010-11 as the chief badman, Salman put a brake on Sood’s diabolic plans. No more villains’ parts until the sequel of Dabangg. That’s the brief given to Sood by his Dabangg hero. Confounded by the embargo Sonu Sood has done the next best thing. He has crossed over to Chulbul Pandey’s territory and is playing a cop in the two films that he has signed in 2011. Intense preparations are on to get the nuances right. Sood recently spent a fortnight with a top cop in Punjab to understand the mind, body language and spoken language of a cop. Says Sood, “It’s true I have been told not to expend my mean muscles until Dabangg 2. Interestingly, I’ve signed two major cops’ roles. One is a dream-come-true role in Puri Jaganaath’s Boodha where I play Mr. Bachchan’s son. My role is modelled on Amitji in Zanjeer.” Sonu has watched Zanjeer 17 times in the last six months. To his command over the Bachchanesque style of law enforcement in Zanjeer (including that famous body-flying-across-the-air for a full-impact hurl against the adversary that had the crowds roaring when Mr B did it in 1973 in Zanjeer) Sonu will add the inner knowledge of a cop’s world. “I’ve spent time with a senior of the DGP rank in Punjab, Mr. P S Gill. He has helped understand how a cop functions,” informs Sood. The law enforcement skills would help Sonu with his other role this year as well. Says Sonu, “I again a play cop in Kabir Kaushik’s underworld drama Maximum. I had no intentions of doing any other film except Boodha this year. And that too another role as a cop! But when I read the script of Maximum I was bowled over. I will play this cop very differently from the one in Boodha.” These two films will take Sonu Sood to the end of this year. “And then it’s back to villainy in Dabangg 2. Badman Returns” Sonu laughs his most diabolic laughter. Hope Salman heard it.

Sonu is lucky enough that dabangg makers liked him and want to carry forward his negative touch in dabangg 2.They dont want him to expose his negative shades in any other film. It is none other than Sonu Sood, who played the powerful baddie in Arundathi. His role in Chandramukhi has Oomaiyan was well-appreciated and he has several Hindi and Telugu films to his credit. According to sources, Sonu’s role in Rana will be very important and meaty. Director KS Ravi Kumar decided on Sonu Sood as he felt only he could do full justice to the role and the Superstar immediately agreed to it, we hear. Rana is said to be partly set in the historical era and the film is to be produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth.
